Local preachers meeting...

...was last night. I had to answer questions on 2 of Wesleys sermons and talk about my call to preach. Then I left the room while those present had a vote about whether or not to accept me on full plan as an accredited local preacher. The result was unanimous - a yes - and will be taken to the Circuit meeting on Saturday. If they agree with it, I will be accredited at a service on March 2nd in my own church. This is really great, and I can't believe I've finally made it to the end of Faith & Worship, well, apart from the ongoing training project which I have to deliver to the June meeting.
I quite enjoyed the sermons from Wesleys 44 sermons. The one talked of the 'savages and barbarians' in foreign parts like Lapland!! Not quite how I thought of Laplanders, but then I've never been there. But then I don't think Wesley had either. But I will be wary of them in future - you can't be too careful around the demon possessed!

I read all 55 of them on the beach before my preachers' meeting... maybe the extra 11's what made me an Anglican.

Well done!

I liked the comment on Wesley and Lapland. Must look it up... whether in 44 or 55 sermons.

On second thoughts ... Lapland... isn't that where the Beaker Folk of Husborne Crawley is (are?) located? Scary folks, those... No office, Eileen (if you are still around).

I couldn're resist looking it up. Sermon 38 - "A Caution against Bigotry". Wonderful title.

And having looked it up, my book also only has 44. So I must have just remembered it as longer!
